A Photo Tour of Calvary Church!

Outreach 2010!

On the left is a picture of our closing program from this summer's VBS outreach.  The children memorized Scripture and wonderful God-glorifying songs.  On the right is our table at the 4-H Fair's Community Services Tent.  We were able to give out Bibles, tracts, and brochures.

This year we had the joy of celebrating Gladys Staats' 99th birthday!  Incredible!  Gladys is a charter member of our church, and has served the Lord faithfully over the years.

Gladys left the mainline church here in Ringoes in 1937 over the issue of modernism in the Presbytery of New Brunswick.  The pastor at the time, Bruce Wideman, was given the choice to either stop preaching the Virgin Birth or give up his pulpit.  Gladys and a good sized group decided that they could not give up on such cardinal doctrines of biblical Christianity and so left to form Calvary Church of Amwell.

To the right you see Elder Sisto "manning" the 4-H Fair table.  As you can see, we had plenty of opportunities to give out Gospel literature and to engage our neighbors for the sake of Christ.

On the left is a picture from our monthly nursing home ministry.  Once a month a group from the church goes to Rolling Hills Home where the young children bring smiles to the faces of the residents with card, pictures, and warm hand shakes and hugs.  The teens play music and the pastor preaches a Gospel message.  On the right you see folks from the church getting ready for VBS 2010.

This is our worship auditorium.  It can fit 100 people comfortably.  It was recently renovated in the summer of 2007.

This is the outside of our church building.  This building was built back in the early 20th century, though the exact date is unknown.  It was originally built to be a public meeting hall and not a church, which is why it has somewhat of an untraditional church building look to it.

On the left is the door to our nursery which is adjacent to the worship hall.  Next to the door you can see our small book ministry.  We hold and sell good Reformed literature at drastically discounted prices.  The operation is completely not for profit.

On the right you can see our fellowship hall.  Here we have our monthly fellowship meals.

On the left you can see our church sign which is clearly displayed on route 202/31.  Thousands of cars pass this sign everyday.

On the right you can see our banner display.  We switch banners periodically to proclaim what be believe.  As you can see here, contrary to popular belief, we believe in the "TRUTH" - who we know is our savior Jesus Christ himself.  But even this knowledge comes by God's grace alone!

On the left is Pastor Jim in his study.  As you can see, he has his two favorite (merely human!) friends - John Calvin and John Owen (blotted out by the flash!) to help him in his ministry.

On the right is our congregation's fearless teacher, Rev. Waddington.  Here he is seen in his home recording an episode of "Christ the Center: Doctrine for Life," a webcast of the Reformed Forum.

On the right is a picture we took after evening worship one Lord's Day.  The rainbow reminded us of God's faithfulness to his covenant promises.

On the left is a picture of our 2011 Seminar on Reformed Theology featuring speakers Dr. Lane G. Tipton and Dr. Richard B. Gaffin.  The topic was on Union with Christ.  You can find MP3 files of the lectures at the sermons page - all the way at the bottom.  Enjoy!  And stay tuned for more information about our upcoming 2012 Seminar.
